Welcome to St. Joseph's G.N.S. Green School Page.

We are working for our 6th Green Flag. Our theme is Global Citizenship: Litter and Waste.

Green School Committee 2018/2019

We have 16 wonderful girls on our Green School Committee from 2nd to 6th class.
We meet every Tuesday at Break Time to discuss creative ways to promote Global Citizenship and reduce litter and waste. Everyone in our school community is working hard to keep our school clean and litter free.

Hello from the Green Team!
We are working hard to set up our new theme! Keep a look out for our brand new noticeboard coming soon!

We have lots of new, fun ideas about how we can all look after our planet and each other.

Top tip this week:
1. Turn off the lights when you're not in the room.
2. Make sure the tap is off when you're not using it!

We are creating a lovely nature table for the Autumn. We hope that you can find some nice things to put on our Autumn Table.

The Finglas Forest Community and School Garden has a new Wormery. The Wormery is giving us wonderful nutrient rich compost to help our plants to grow healthy and strong.
If you would like to make your own Wormery at home then click here.

A wormery is a place where worms can grow, compost and make more worms. A wormery will recycle food waste into superb fertilizer for our garden. We add organic waste to our Wormery every week. Worms love to eat lots of things such as apple cores, banana peels and pears. It is important not to use meat, poultry, fish, dairy, potato chips, sweets, oils, oranges, lemons, and limes because these are not good for the worms. FUN FACT! Worms can eat up to two times their body size every day!

Green Flag Day
We had a brilliant day celebrating our latest Green Flag for Biodiversity.
Mr. Bryan Dobson from RTÉ kindly helped us to raise the flag. We celebrated everyone's great work.

Well done to everyone for planting something in our new sensory garden.  Doesn't it look gorgeous?
