Dear Parents/Guardians,
We hope you are all keeping well and staying safe. We know it is not ideal but for now we must begin again with Distance Learning.
Junior Infants, Senior Infants, First and Second Class students will use SeeSaw.
3rd, 4th , 5th and 6th class will use Google Classroom.
  • All children have been set up on these platforms and have been using them for homework over the last few months. Therefore they should be familiar with how to use them.
  • The children are expected to engage with learning each day. The teachers might set work for your child every day or they may set work for the week. Your child will also receive recordings of their teacher doing some lessons that they can engage with.
  • Teachers will monitor and approve work during school hours each day.
  • Children from 3rd to 6th will be invited to join an online call each week with their teacher and other children in their class. Please keep in touch with the teachers and let them know if you need help with anything.
If you need to contact the teachers you can do so through SeeSaw/Google Classroom or send them an email:

St. Joseph's Choir feature in new Christmas Song:
Our choir was asked to sing the chorus in a new Christmas song, 'Macy's Window (Christmas in New York)'. The song was written by Brendan Graham (Who wrote Rock 'n' Roll Kids and You Raise Me Up) and is performed by tenor Anthony Kearns.
The song is about a man remembering his childhood at Christmas as he looks through the window of Macy's in New York.
We are very proud of the girls who took part in this project. The song has been released on iTunes and on Saturday 28th November it reached Number 12 in the charts!!
Here is a small clip of the song..... PLEASE SUPPORT US BY DOWNLOADING 'MACY'S WINDOW (CHRISTMAS IN NEW YORK)' FROM iTUNES!!

   Pieta House Amber Flag award!
Last year, our school applied for the Amber Flag award: An initiative organised by Pieta House which promotes positive mental health in primary and secondary schools across Ireland. Our amber flag committee worked really hard to organise lots of events in our school including a fundraiser, coffee morning, art competition and a whole school display. Although our year was cut short in March, our hard work paid off and our Amber Flag now proudly waves outside our school!
Ms McQuaid would like to thank last year’s Amber Flag committee; Lexie, Emily C, Leah, Skye, Jacinta, Eileen, Emily M and Kayleigh for all of their hard work and wonderful ideas they shared. Well done girls!       (Photo Taken Pre-Covid)

RETIREMENT OF MRS MOLUMBY
Picture
Friday 2nd October was a sad day for St. Joseph’s as we said goodbye to Mrs. Ann Molumby. Mrs Molumby had been a teacher in our school for 18 years. We gave her a very special send off with each class performing a song for her in the yard. We also presented her with a homemade ‘St. Joseph’s Tree’ made up of circles decorated by each child. Huge thanks to Mrs. Molumby for her amazing dedication to the children in our school. She was a wonderful teacher and the children really flourished under her guidance. We wish her a long and happy retirement.
